Mothercare Car Seats

The Which magazine for July has a large report on car seat safety and how technology there has not kept pace with other developments in car safety. The tested lots of different car seats both for tiny babies through to toddlers up to 4/5 yrs. One of the Mothercare seats was given an unprecedented 0 because on testing a child would have either died or been severely brain damaged. The force with which their head would have oushed forward and back was so shocking that they felt that they could not recommend the seat in any way. I can't remember the particular model but it was a rear seat, forward facing and called I think Daytona - I shall check and post again tomorrow.

It was the mothercare Daytona. If anyone has this seat I would consider taking it back & asking for a refund.
The recommended ones are:- concord baboo /Jane Matrix for group 0
bebe confort iseos/ britax renaissance for group 1.
(I'd brought the mag to work to read at lunchtime)
BTW, Mothercare said they have redone the daytona & the one tested is no longer on sale, BUT the report said none of the features which caused concern have been altered, so the new one is probably as bad as the old one.

Thanks for the reassurance, Debsb, from a non Consumers' Association member, Renaissance owning parent!
