that a Turkish Cypriot teacher (with no obvious signs of religousness) drinks alcohol?

I have to sort out an end-of-year gift for a teacher, for tomorrow ...

North Cyprus or South? If Greek (south), yes very safe, if north, possibly still OK because all the northern Cypriots I know, while technically Muslims, drink like my Irish family, but if s/he's northern Cypriot (Turkish speaking) then I'd assume not just in case - s/he may be a stricter Muslim than my family friends. (I don't think it's possible to be less strict )

otoh I've just thought - lots of women don't drink alcohol from both sides - so if it's a woman, err on the side of chocolate instead!

She's northern - Turkish.

Chocolates or smelly stuff is probably safer.
