Where to live in Salisbury?!

Hi,

I am after some advice!

My husband has recently taken an exciting new job which necessitates us relocating from Cambridgeshire.

Having considered our options we've decided we really like Salisbury, as it offers more than we currently have within commuting distance of his new job.

Can anyone tell me the nice areas in and around Salisbury? I'd really like to know the areas with good schools and local amenities (supermarkets, doctors, dentists, pre-school activities etc) and within a short distance of the city centre.

Any hints and tips and your honesty would be appreciated!

For gods sake don't let the estate agent show you anything on or near an area called Bemerton heath, its the roughest area in Salisbury and has a very bad reputation.
I'm afraid I don't know much more than that as I live in Bulford which is one of the villages near Amesbury.
If you narrow your options to anywhere let me know as I can always ask at my work if you like.

Things are happening much quicker than we thought, so we may well start off by renting - just to give us more time to do some research on where we want to set down our roots!
As we'll be brand new to the area, can anyone recommend any good places/groups where I'll be able to meet other mums?
