What happens when you cut out (or cut down, at least) your kids' TV viewing?

Anyone been brave enough yet? DS (age 18 - no, I joke, he's 3!) currently watches no more than 30 mins per day but I am considering reducing it to just 10 mins a day, or perhaps 20 mins on alternate days. Would love tips and feedback from people who've done something similar!

i did not think i could manage without c beebs - but no looking back.....best thing ever!!!

for me too as i listen to the radio!!

we don't watch much tv anyway tbh so it's not something that would make a big difference although I do notice if the dcs watch a lot of tv for some reason or another then they tend to be drawn to it and want more!
When the 2 older dcs are at school, ds3 and I are usually out and about during the morning and then play games, do jigsaws, play in the afternoon.
TV is usually put on for a little bit after school just while dcs wind down into being back at home and then it's early tea and more play.

Thanks for joining my thread!

hambo - are you Brazilian? (idle question)

No!

Not as interesting I'm afraid..
Do you know a Brazilian Hambo?
I'm not even a Hambo with a Brazilian....(yukk)

SpeedyGonzalez · 20/01/2010 22:10

Rofl! Brazilians pronounce 'r' as /h/. When DH was in Brazil, all the kids he was working with kept asking him to draw 'hambo' (i.e. Rambo) - so, rather unflatteringly, I thought perhaps your name was a tribute to Sly Stallone's timeless performance!

With you on the Brazilians...and the Manhattans - is that what they call Bald Adult Minges?

We go through phases of Too Much TV and then the Cull.

What happens is Ds (nearly 5) plays with his toys more and is generally more imaginative but eventually I relent and allow more telly which stops the pay until i flip again and stop the telly. and round and round we go.

Do it now - it is worth it.

If i had the choice I would not have sky and all it's shite in my home.

stops the play

He doesn't pay me - mores the pity.
