brother coming over from US this summer and same time sister and her family coming over from Aus. Understandly my ma would really like to get some photos taken but we do not want cheesy formal shots and we want someone to come to the house and just do some reportage style stuff.

ANy ideas where I can find one?

where abouts are you - and does it have to be colour, or is black and white ok?

Reason I ask is I've got a very good friend here in wellingborough (northants) who does fantastic black and white informal shots.

She'll come to your house for 1hr (and if you want to take her somehwere like a park she's happpy to go with you). Quite reasonable prices too.

I have a friend who is a photographer and takes wonderful family/children photos, they're truly fab IMO. It depends where you are though whether she'll be any good for you. CAT me if you want her details or want me to ask her.

i know a fantastic photographer, based in Skipton, N Yorks, if that is any good to you. He's won lots of awards and has done my wedding, both my brothers', and family occasions too.

VEnture Photos have a a very informal/fun style, you can even take pets to the session. The service is fantastic. The only problem is price. Having said that, though expensive and a bit out of our budget... I consider it was money well spent!

turquoise · 05/07/2005 09:31

CAT me if you're in the Kent area, I know two excellent ones.

WideWebWitch · 05/07/2005 09:33

I wouldn't go for Venture personally but obv it's up to you!

katierocket · 05/07/2005 09:33

we're in Cheshire.

no to venture; they only do indoor shots and I used to do PR for them so I am a bit off them IFYKWIM!

Any similar recommendations in London would be welcome, too. I'd rather deal with an individual than a company ...

Twiglett · 05/07/2005 09:36

oo there was a fabulous photographer posted about a year ago who was based in Balham .. let me check my search skills

katierocket · 05/07/2005 09:36

yes I just want somone who will come to the house and take some general shots of the children and people talking etc then maybe a couple of us all together but nothing very formal and posed.

NotQuiteCockney · 05/07/2005 09:41

Sorry katierocket ... don't think of it as hijacking, think of it as bumping, with extra text?

katierocket · 05/07/2005 09:42

LOL

WideWebWitch · 05/07/2005 09:43

NQC, just emailed my friend with a link to the thread to ask if she's interested in some work in London so she'll post if so!

WideWebWitch · 05/07/2005 09:43

katierocket · 05/07/2005 19:35

Ha, that's ok twig, nice to know people are paying attention
SIL and BIL live there and they've just had first baby, they only have small flat so we need to stay somewhere and I wanted to be fairly near.
Any ideas?!

Twiglett · 05/07/2005 20:50

I posted a link to a b&b on your thread .. its in East Dulwich (don't know what its like though but did offer to wander over if you get the address and have a look )

katierocket · 05/07/2005 20:53

thanks twig, we're in a bit of a quandry because ideally we need a separate bedroom or connecting rooms so DS can have a room otherwise I just don't know how we'll all sleep. Not sure B&B is an option but ta anyway.

OP posts:
Twiglett · 05/07/2005 21:03

that B&B looked like a converted victorian house so I think you'd probably be right next door and could maybe leave doors open??? worth a call maybe .. we really don't have many hotels round here

katierocket · 05/07/2005 22:36

thanks twig, have emailed them
