Lip - sorry no-one's responded to your message. There are other threads on here with loads of helpful tips on moving house. When are you moving? Are you moving far? We moved last year, but mine were 3 and 5 - that was bad enough!

We actually sent them to grandparents for a fortnight, so that we could pack and unpack and generally get straight and sorted in peace. We got an amazing amount done, and it was a real luxury for us. Don't know if that's an option for you at all, but I would definitely recommend farming them out for as much time as you possibly can.

Absolutey - get the children looked after elsewhere at least for moving day. And get the removal firm to pack for you.

We moved last year with just a 2 year old which was stressful enough. On the actual moving day we took it in turns to keep him occupied. One of us played with Charlie while everyone else packed, loaded and unloaded, and we changed over every 30 minutes. That way Charlie had a great time and we all got regular breaks.
I packed the house up bit by bit in the evenings after he'd gone to bed (left me on my knees but would probably have packed him up as well as the crockery if he'd been around!), and did his room last so things weren't too strange for him. When we got to the new house his was the first room to be unpacked again.
Definitely go along with the idea of getting family or friends to look after them though, even if just for the day of the move.
Good luck.

Lip
get them to pack a bag of their favourite toys/ games to take with them and get out on arrival. Also if it is summer can you get the garden toys set up before anything at least they will be in the garden and employ the help of a favourite aunt/ uncle whatever to be chief entertainer for the day. We did this last year with the 2 year old and it worked well, I also entertained her as was 8 1/2 mths pregnant at time. Also don't change any bedtime routines at this point i.e put them in beds instead of cots I think it is too much in one go.
