I give in - now truly a country gal and after 10 days of being snowed in - thinking of a 4x4. I don't really want to do the chelsea tractor bit what do you rec - have 2 kids, big dog and even bigger out-law to taxi.

IS IT NORMAL TO STILL FEEL SAD ABOUT A DEAD DEFENDER SEVERAL MONTHS LATER?

I have a 08 Defender. It is totally brilliant, I've had sheep, piglets and 3 kids in it and it just hoses out! Took a while to get the smell of old blood out when I picked up the pigs from the butchers though! On a more serious note, they are very reliable and probaly keep their value better than virtually any other vehicle on the market. They have also been proven (on Top Gear) to be the best off roader. The ride on the new model is smooth and the new Transit engine is good and strong.
