Oh I'm so pleased with myself although it's sad, can I share a laundry tip?!

We have just started hanging shirts and childrens' tops and dresses on the line on coat hangers! and it cuts out so much work because when they're dry you just hang them up! This doesn't work if you do ironing but if, like me, you don't, it cuts out the whole taking them off the line/folding them up/taking them upstairs/putting them on hangers/hanging them up stages! I am ridiculously pleased with myself about this as I am a lazy arse who detests washing and usually waits until no-one has any clean pants before tackling it.

There's bound to be a flaw in this new system but I haven't found it yet. I thank you for listening. Please pray for me to get a job soon

ha ha tinker, well, this was the problem, piles of clean washing would previously sit in the basket and never ever make it beyond the hall. And then it would get mixed with dirty and it would be almost pointless ever doing it in the first place. I used pegs to keep the hangers from crashing into each other 006! Colditz, I do crosswords too, have nearly finished Sunday's Everyman (have had odd minutes on it, haven't been working on it non stop since Sun, obv!)

northerner · 29/06/2005 14:45

Tee hee hee

TonyParsons · 29/06/2005 14:45

OMG mumsnet has turned into viz.

colditz · 29/06/2005 14:45

I have piles of clean folded washing on my kitchen table. Half the stuff we where is taken directly from this piles, worn, placed directly into the washing machine, and never makes it upstairs!

colditz · 29/06/2005 14:46

Why Viz, tp?

WideWebWitch · 29/06/2005 14:46

oliveoil, I'm boring myself, god knows what it's doing to the rest of you

snap colditz

colditz · 29/06/2005 14:47

My wife was pegging out washing the other day, she had no idea i was watching her from a carefully concealed hole under the sink.

northerner · 29/06/2005 14:48

I remember one thread about someone had bought some new clothes pegs and she was excited about using them for the first time.

Fio2 · 29/06/2005 14:48

colditz what were you doing? i have a really weird mental picture!

compo · 29/06/2005 14:51

we don't iron anythign here - just hang up as soon as clothes come out of washing machine

northerner · 29/06/2005 14:53

I really don't understand this not ironing thing. You must look all crumpled.

Tinker · 29/06/2005 14:54

body heat gets out most crumples

Fio2 · 29/06/2005 14:57

if you fold and ry them properlky you dont get crimples, then again it depends what type of clothes tyou wear. i always have to iron next stuff, drives me mad

northerner · 29/06/2005 15:00

Yeah I must admit I don't iron my tops, as they are quite tight fitting and stretch when I wear them. But shirts for work, and jeans, and most of ds's clothes all need ironing. In fact have a big pile to do at home tonight.

My friend likens doing the ironing to giving BJ's but that's a whole new thread!

paolosgirl · 29/06/2005 15:01

Irning = BJ's???? Do tell...!

Stargazer · 29/06/2005 15:01

WWW - that's just brilliant and I think I'm going to have to see if it works. I hate washing and ironing is even worse (ironing basket currently about 4 feet high)

northerner · 29/06/2005 15:15

Well she says doing the ironing is like giving a bj because:

It's something you hate the thought of doing but is a necessity and you feel quite smug once it's done

You can't do either with young children in the vicinity

You can do both whilst watching TV, but if you're at the wrong angle you'll get a crick in your neck

Am sure there are more but can't think right now.

oliveoil · 29/06/2005 15:21

My mum got me one of those sock hanger things with individual pegs and I got VERY excited when I used that for the first time.

oliveoil · 29/06/2005 15:22

Northener - spray is involved in both

SoupDragon · 29/06/2005 15:28

This works when you hang them on your iron curtain poles too - ideal for when it's raining.

northerner · 29/06/2005 15:33

I'll ad the spay one to my list Olive.

paolosgirl · 29/06/2005 19:26

LOL, Northener! All very true....
