we have received a letter from Powergen this morning telling us that they are putting our direct debit up to £82 a month (is currently £65)

i simply cannot believe we are using this much electric a quarter........

is this outrageously high? we are on Economy 7 and only use our storage heaters during the coldest months, and run the usual fridge, cooker, lights, computer, television but thats about it. can i really be using this much electric a quarter or could there be a fault on my meter?

was just wondering if i'm being ripped off or if this is really a realistic bill...........

We pay £70 month for electricity from british gas. The only gas thing we have is instant hot water heater thingy. Other than that everything- storage heaters and cooking etc is electric. We live in an 2 bed terrace, but there is no insulation at all. Last winter we found ice on the inside of the windows even when the heaters had been on!

We have no heating whatsoever!! but we never found ice though. We have plug in elecy heaters but are not up to much have a gas fire that is broken, lol. must get a new one before winter comes again!!

The day rate for Economy 7 is higher than the normal 'flat' rate for electricity. Obviously the night rate for E7 is significantly lower.

Do you run your washing m/c etc at night to take advantage of the cheaper power?
