What to write in a card - tricky situation

A friend of ours is very ill with cancer. He needs a miracle.

This Christmas is going to be very emotional one for him, his wife and child. I am sending Xmas cards this week and I just don't know what to write in his.

Can anyone give me any inspiration?

I would just write "thinking of you all at Xmas" or something like that

Try to pick a card that omits the "happy new year" bit as well

although, I honestly don't think it matters, Xmas cards will be the least of their worries
