Ouija boards

I saw part of a film on TV the other night where a group of teenagers did one of these. I know it was TV and things do get exaggerated but it made me think.
I have never in my life done one of these and don't know of anyone that has either, but I'm curious. Don't get me wrong, I'm not planning on doing one either!!!
Just wondered if anyone out there has experience of this and what they thought.
I find it hard to believe that something like that can have such power.

Back to Ouija-I did quite a few of these in my twenties -in particular with one other good friend of mine and regularly we would both take our hands off the glass and it would fly round the board-the power of these is immense and v dangerous-we tapped into some nasty spirits and I do believe the Devil is there to talk to if you want to-stay well away and protect yourself-its not worth the"thrill"-it will fuck you up if you let it!

lunachic · 26/06/2005 01:09

ive never done then drop in the and i never would although i have been involved in spirit rescue work which is totally different

mogwai · 26/06/2005 08:47

what's that Lunachic?

ChaCha · 26/06/2005 10:33

Morning Mogwai,
You still here then

lunachic · 26/06/2005 10:43

its moving an earthbound soul/spirit onto a another(hopefully brighter!)place (sort of ghostbusting) its mainly my friend and teacher who does this i dont do it much on my own im still learning its def not to be messed withor taken lightly .shes very experienced and does it as part of her job.

mogwai · 26/06/2005 13:49

is that like exorcism or totally different? Sorry, don't mean to sound ignorant. It's very interesting stuff.

Hi chacha....yup still here, though I should, by rights, have a wailing little bundle by now .

I did nearly push off when someone thought my sense of humour was "disrespectful" but was so interested in the thread topic (which is what we were supposed to be discussing, I figured) I thought I'd come back. Always been interested in this sort of thing. My great-gran thought she was psychic. Then again, she thought her father was Edward VII.

No offence meant to anyone who really IS psychic, Edward VII, any of his descendants, or anyone else who thinks they may have blue blood . I'm just a light-hearted kinda gal, which is a particular achievement at the moment, given the circumfrence of my thighs

ChaCha · 26/06/2005 14:18

LOL Mogwai

Does anyone remember the film called 'witchboard'? I used to scare myself silly with that film when i was younger. I am until now weary of mirrors in the dark..not sure why..anyone else?

mogwai · 26/06/2005 17:07

hey chacha!

you still got a difficult mother? I have!

There's a thread going on at the moment somewhere - ?chat, called "parent-in-laws" or something. A poor lady on there says she "can't stand" her mother but thinks she has the right to pop round whenever she chooses, just cos it's her mum. My idea of hell!

I think she needs our help! Send for the "difficult parents" reinforcements a la Trinny and Susannah. (Chacha, you run cos I'm too fat?!)

No offence re reference to "hell" or "Trinny and Susannah" or fat people

SaintGeorge · 26/06/2005 17:12

Mogwai - I have tried to send you a CAT but you don't have the option ticked. Please could you contact me on antlxstew @ yahoo.co.uk (remove spaces)

Thank you

ChaCha · 26/06/2005 18:21

Hey Mogwai...where's Gizmo then?? Still not here
I've been wanting to start a thread for ages but feel guilty..terrible isn't it? Have this vision of mother stalking me on websites and so must behave...
We haven't spoken for months now!

Anyhow...back to ouija...Any more stories?

lunachic · 26/06/2005 20:30

mogwai exorcism is different that removing a spirit which has possesed a person (that how i see it anyway) although you can have your house exorcised so i suppose it may be the same but i wouldnt choose to call it that-may depend on the approach used id guess

mogwai · 26/06/2005 20:37

so a spirit can possess a person as well as a building, Lunachic?

Is the person always aware they are being possessed? I mean, do they seek help? And does the spirit choose to possess someone in particular, like someone they know?

Interesting stuff, hey? Have you been into this for a long time? I've always been interested but my interest only goes so far because, like many people, I'm a bit wary of it, but I do love learning about it.

mogwai · 26/06/2005 20:38

nah cha cha - no sign of gizmo. Beginning to doubt his existence tbh. The fat thighs do give the game away a bit, though . Oh the indignity!!!!

HappyHuggy · 26/06/2005 21:03

(did you see SaintGeorges post earlier Moqwai? )

spangles · 27/06/2005 13:10

I am interested in contacting people who have passed away but am too scared of ouija boards and would have to have a bloody good reccomendation for a "medium" to trust them. That said there is one friend of mine and DHs who passed away really suddenly almost 3 years ago who I would love to contact. What do you lot think... Is it wise to use a medium or should I just leave it be.
PS. I would never consider using a ouija board because I dont know how to do it and would not be able to sleep after. I would be greatful for your advice coz you seem to know wot your talking about

HappyHuggy · 27/06/2005 13:23

I think you should trust your own judgement.

ChaCha · 27/06/2005 13:25

Maybe St.George can shed some light on that?

SaintGeorge · 27/06/2005 13:40

spangles - if you are looking for a reading you can always try one online. Have a look at Mystic Familiar which is a reputable site.

Having said that, my general recommendation would not be to seek a medium or any type of spiritual reader in an attempt to contact one particular spirit. It is up to them to make the contact, not up to you to want or expect them to IYSWIM.

Not saying completely give up on the idea - just saying don't expect too much. Just because you want to speak to them doesn't mean they feel the same way, spirits can be contrary little so and sos sometimes .

spangles · 27/06/2005 13:50

Thanks for that SG
Its so hard when someone passes away so suddenly.
I think I am too scared to do anying about this, but it would be nice to let this person now how much they meant to DH and myself and tell them how missed they are.

SaintGeorge · 27/06/2005 13:55

spangles - don't worry about that, they will know.

Sarahx2005 · 30/06/2005 12:07

Hi Spangles, you shouldn't contact the dead. It's not meant to happen. I know how tempting it is - I lost my four year old son 3 years ago last week (June 23rd) and there's nothing I'd like more than for someone to say 'he's here and he has a message' but I know it wouldn't be him. I know that he's safe in heaven with Jesus and he knew where he was going too even though he was so young.
I've seen amazing messages from the dead (only on tv) but the messages are from the Devil - he can tell you anything you want to know - he's a great magician and he tricks you into believing that your loved ones are actually there with you. If you believe your loved ones are there chatting with you and that that's where everyone goes after death then where is there any need for God in your life?? That's what the devil wants - he wants YOU.
Just please stay away, believe in God and wait until you get to heaven yourself to have that longed for chat.
Sarah xx

HappyHuggy · 30/06/2005 12:13

People have different beliefs though Sarah and its not fair to try and force what you believe on them. (which if your not trying to do then i apoligise but its the way i read your post) trying to scare people into believing how you do is wrong. Its up to the individual to find their own path in life.

SaintGeorge · 30/06/2005 12:15

Sarah - sorry for your loss xx

Not wanting to start a religious argument with you, but not everyone believes in the devil or indeed in the concept of your God.

lunachic · 30/06/2005 12:21

agree with saint g too

sorry for your loss x

Sarahx2005 · 30/06/2005 12:22

Hi,
I don't force my beliefs on anyone - you can read my post or ignore it. Just because someone does not believe in something doesn't mean it doesn't exist. How long did mankind believe the world was flat before it was proved it wasn't? The last thing I want is a religious debate - that won't help or convince anyone of anything and it certainly won't honour God.
I share what I believe because I want to and it's part of my calling as a christian.
If anyone is genuinely interested to find out more I'm more than happy to chat to them about it, if they are not - then ok that's fine - like I said before just ignore my my posts - but please don't 'have a go' at me for my beliefs - we are all entitled to our opinion and this is mine
God bless, Sarah x
