Suggestions for a pampering break just for me?

It's my birthday soon and I really fancy a couple of days away to relax and be pampered on my own. No children, no DH, just me and a good book!

Anyone got any reccommendations? I live in Devon but am happy to travel for the right place.

do you like health spas or are you after pure laziness somewhere remote?

Problem with Health Spas like Ragdale, or Springs is that they put you with other singlies for dining, and you can unlucky and gain a shadow for your whole stay!

babington, without question. when my sister and her boyfriend first stayed there they said they almost moved in. in fact they were planning to buy a very small cottage in the country for weekends and now they have decided it will be much nicer, cheaper and easier to go and stay at babington once every month or six weeks or so instead!

is it going to be lots of other peoples kids tho?
Is it a little....whispers boden?

wiltshirelass · 01/06/2003 22:10

my sister is SOOOOOO not boden. architect, rides a motoguzzi, very groovy (much more so than me, sob) and wouldn't be seen dead in a velvet trimmed t-shirt!

bossykate · 01/06/2003 22:31

i've always imagined babington house to be more prada, tse and tod's than boden!

wiltshirelass · 01/06/2003 22:34

i would class tods with boden. all those little bumps are just too..... hamptons for me! something about them with capri pants...
anyway. I think it is more Chloe, miumiu and "fabulous second hand shop off ledbury road"!!

A bit far to travel but would really recommend think it is called "the vinyard" near to Reading. Has a website. Is a spa with all the benefits of sauna's, spa's, pools, treatments etc. but also has a Mitchelin starred restaurant and wine cellars. the wine lists are huge books divided into European and New World. I went with DH but would have been just as happy on my own. I would recommmend their own foot and hand massage which includes the "vineyard bubbly combo" mandarin essence and bubbly!!!!!
failing that depending on budget had an equally but very different time with girlfriend at Spa in Torquay, we did take our own bubbly mind and didn't make all the classes!!

Thanks all. Babington house looks good but might be a bit intimidating? Especially on my own. I don't want people to think I'm on the pull.

A friend has reccommended Cedar Falls health farm near Taunton where you can lounge around in a bathrobe all day (no Prada!), so may give them a go.
