I am so ashamed to say that 3years ago we had some wonderful hospitality from a US family (bloke friend of DH) who live in echo park LA. and I still have not sent them the present I have been meaning to send.
The main reasons for this are my usual disorganisation and also having no idea what would be a good gift. Their children are twin boys age 5 and a daughter age 8. THey are socially aware, bright and hip people. I think I feelthat I am not up to the job of choosing them a present/presents!
so mumsnet wise ones - any ideas for a great gift that would be unusual in US?
I am happy to spend up to £100 but also would prefer not to be too flash!!

Chocolate--aero bars, wispa, malteasers, quality street etc
dark choc hobnobs
xmas pudding

interesting eggcups if they do softboiled eggs

mustard

tea

when we are visiting the US we just take a trip round sainsburys and load up on stuff you can't get in the US. US chocolate and tea are diabolical so anything should be well received! Small hamper from Harrods/Fortnum & Mason would probably go down well too.

Hope that helps!
