Packaging for Food as a Gift - Ideas?

I'm specifically thinking about a nice airtight way to package things like mince pies and Christmas cookies.

I think tins are going to work out expensive if I'm giving away dozens of mince pies. Does anyone have ideas about how I might use a normal gift box, but make it airtight on the inside?

Thanks!

What about cellophane bags instead, they can be sealed easily and look very pretty with a box and curling ribbon.
