We do. DH rarely get's e-mails anyway. So, it's mainly mine to be honest. And, yep, if e-mails come through we do tend to see/read each others. Doesn't bother us at all. We tend to open each other's normal mail too just for convenience more than anything.

We have a joint address at home, but each have one at work too. I tend to read all of the mail, e or otherwise , that comes into this house as DH is a lazy git who can't even manage to open an envelope......

Not only have we got seperate e mail addresses. We've got 'his and 'hers' computers, side by side in the office (OK, spare bedroom) with matching chairs, very cosy. Also very sad, sometimes we are sat next to each other doing our own thing and don't even know the other is there really. On the plus side, we do get a lot of 'time out' in the evenings after Ds has gone to bed. Dh at the moment is downstairs watching TV - Is that worse?

lou33 · 20/05/2003 22:16

We have a joint address and separate ones, and we read each others emails, it's never been an issue.

judetheobscure · 20/05/2003 23:10

Used to share the email address but then the volume got too high so dh shoved me out. Also set up addresses for the children.

Ghosty · 21/05/2003 04:58

We have a joint address ... but we never open eachother's mail ... we can tell who it is for by the name/address in the inbox ...
I always go back and read anything of DH's after he has read it and vice versa but tbh his mails are soooooooooo boring - usually about the batting average of some England Cricketer (zzzzzzzzzzz) or they are really disgustingly rude pictures and jokes that a couple of his mates send him.
My e-mails on the other hand are always truly fascinating

florenceuk · 21/05/2003 12:27

We have one email address each, but the mail programme is set to check both accounts. So we just read each other's email, and most of it is joint-related anyway. DH also has work email, so I guess he could keep really private stuff there.

edgarcat - I do that too when he is at work! Easier than trying to catch him on the phone.

wiltshirelass · 21/05/2003 13:37

perfectly normal. I email mine instructions - "don't forget to pay the john lewis bill" "have you booked the car in for a service?" "don't forget it is your brother's birthday tomorrow". He must dread seeing my name in his in-box...
mind you occasionally I throw in an interesting one to perk him up a bit

JJ · 21/05/2003 20:11

Lou33, we're just like you: a joint address and two separate ones, but we keep up with each others separate accounts (his is more interesting than mine, so I check his more regularly, although he uses mine for other stuff sometimes). The only time we don't check is when there's an explicit "I have bought you a present and you must not check my account" type thing.

We do have separate log-ins to the computer, though. His bookmarks don't mesh that well with mine. Plus, I like my background and interface much better. (We know each others' passwords, though.)
