How do you tune a tv in without instructions or a tuning button??

Well, the title says it all really. I've got 2 tv's that need tuning in but neither has a tuning button and I don't have instructions. It must be really simple but I just can't work it out. Can anyone help please??

What type of tv is it ? Can you download instructions from the internet ? Otherwise iirc you just push the button until it starts to run through tuning each channel, when it holds a signal it moves on to the next one, or you press the button again and it runs through until it fidns the next one. It means you can't easily determine which channel is tuned to which though as the order may be odd.

Thank you for your reply

They're old tvs. One's a JMBC 1499Y and the other is a Toshiba 2151TB. I've done a search on the web but can't find any instructions.

Which button do you mean?

Do they have a remote? The remote should have a button with a small box and an arrow (???) on it. I think.

Hang on, will look at mine!

Nope, wrong again!

It's the outline of a TV screen with a + inside it. On mine (Panasonic) it's at the top next to the red on/off button.

The Sony I have involves pressing 2 buttons on the remote then pressing and 3rd & 4th up and down to find the channel

I've managed to work out how to tune the JMBC one, although there doesn't seem to be enough of a signal to get any of the channels with just a portable aeriel anyway. The Toshiba one is a complete mystery though. There doesn't seem to be any button on the controls that might represent a tuning button,I give up!

On old tellies there was a panel of buttons under a cover ON the telly and you turn these buttons to tune. Can't necessarily get BBC1 on button 1 iyswim. Also recommend getting a good indoor ariel, I've got one for TV upstairs (from Argos), it has to be plugged in itself and its MUCH better than any other I've had although not as good as proper one.
