Well, you might not be.

But I was.

Superdrug's Little Star brand of weaning spoons say suitable from 3 months!

I emailed them and they said they'd pass my comments on to their buyers - wtf?!

Actually weaning spoons CAN be good for very tiny babies being given milk when they can't suck. It allows only a very tiny bit of milk to be given at a time (which some of these babies need) and they are much softer so as to not hurt a delicate mouth. And the proper silk feeding spoons are not as readily available and much more expensive. It CAN be done. I know that for sure.

colditz · 05/06/2005 20:42

I know Dior, thought you might appreciate a hand there

Flossam · 05/06/2005 20:42

HMof2 I completely understand that. But there is a chance that was the case and in an ideal world I wanted to do what I believed to be best for DS, as we all do. It made me more aware of the importance of it, put it that way.

Hercules, I meant to say in last post, you have no need to apologise. As you have said, you are giving your opinion and that it more than fair enough. You were always really helpful to me with your links and I am grateful to you!

I have got new socks, I got them for my birthday 3 weeks ago.

hercules · 05/06/2005 20:44

I need new socks. What colour are they?

colditz · 05/06/2005 20:44

white, with blue and red stripes. The are those trainer socks.

I love getting socks.

lavenderrrrrr · 05/06/2005 20:48

All this is shit. You lot have no idea......My partner smoked all the way through her pregnancy and our son is fine.... He wasnt small and has no ashtmas....

Bugsy2 · 05/06/2005 20:51

I like multicoloured striped ones. Have loads of them from primark. Quite partial to fluffy pink snuggly socks too.

tamum · 05/06/2005 20:53

According to this , in and around 2000 the WHO were still recommending 4-6 months, not 6 months (albeit with objections from the medical community). That seems to fit better with Enid's memory of when the WHO guidelines were in place than a 10 year timespan.

I'm like Flossam I guess, also wanting to convince myself that I wasn't being negligent but just doing the best I could with the advice available at the time.

snafu · 05/06/2005 20:54

I'm eating two cornettos at once. They're yummy.

tamum · 05/06/2005 20:56

Do you have a really large mouth snafu? Or are the cornettos taking it in turns?

Bugsy2 · 05/06/2005 20:57

crikey snafu, did you check the guidelines on the packet?

Tanzie · 05/06/2005 20:57

My 2 Dds have never lived in UK (but were born there and were whisked back to Eastern Europe at 5 weeks). We had Spanish and German baby food there - German (Hipp) jars, from 9 weeks, everything after that age contained salt. Spanish rice cereal told you to stick it in the bottle for hungry babies from 5 weeks. So I did.

So if it's good enough for the Germans and the Spanish, why do we make such a fuss about these things?

And bugger the eating in pregnancy guidelines in UK on not eating soft eggs, salami, soft cheese etc. Where I was living you couldn't even get milk that was pasteurised. It came from neighbour's cow, in large bucket and we boiled it like mad and then drank it. We're all still alive and surprisingly healthy.

snafu · 05/06/2005 20:57

I've squished them up into a bowl. I'm contemplating putting chocolate sauce on them too.

colditz · 05/06/2005 20:59

I used to have some pink and red stripy ones, but lost one.

The more garish the better for me!

tamum · 05/06/2005 21:00

Perhaps some hundreds and thousands??

Bugsy2 · 05/06/2005 21:01

OMG Snafu, that's a disgrace. You'll get fat & then sick and become a burden to society. The state won't pay for your healthcare because they'll know your monumental obesity was self-inflicted from eating two cornettos mashed up in a bowl with chocolate sauce as well.

Tanzie · 05/06/2005 21:04

Have some whipped cream too.

snafu · 05/06/2005 21:05

Well, I think it'll be okay. I know someone who spends over a thousand pounds on tax every month, so I think he'll probably be able to pay for the winch to get me out of bed.

Tamum, don't be silly. Hundreds and thousands is so chavvy.

Bugsy2 · 05/06/2005 21:07

Ha, you won't be running for long!!!

ladymuck · 05/06/2005 21:09

Sigh

You are aware of WHO's guidelines on obesity aren't you? You must cut the amount of sugary and fatty food in your diet.

You really must eat more fruit and veg as well as nuts and whole grains (hope that you're not allergic!).

snafu · 05/06/2005 21:13

I had asparagus, tomatoes and fresh anchovies for lunch though.

So are you saying, ladymuck, that it would be wrong of me to stand in front of the fridge for the next half-hour with my spoon in a jar of Dulce de Leche?

ladymuck · 05/06/2005 21:18

What's Dulce de Leche?

Cam · 05/06/2005 21:19

Ladymuck, you don't want to know
