I have to type an assignment and for some reason (havent been playing with setting or anything) that the margins are all over the place. Not sure what to do to stop them.

Some of them are on 18/17/19 - just want a normal set up.

I want to be able to preview the documents and I can see that they are pretty much ina straight line down not how they should be.

What are normal margin settings?

Please can someone help me??

I'm happy to help, but don't really have a clear idea of the problem.

If you look at "file", "page setup", "margins" what numbers do you get?

jellyjelly · 13/09/2009 16:42

Right did that it says that the top and bottom are at 2.54 cm both the same and the left and right are 3.17.

I have copied and pasted into a new document.

I think it is mainly when i am trying to preview a document its not looking ok.

Those margins are fine.

Does it look ok under "view", "print layout".

If this is fine then it is probably your pinter settings (i think)

Well the left and right margins seem quite wide to me - I would usually use a 2 or 2.5
On the preview page, you can click 'margins' and it will let you manually slide them in/out.
Hope that helps!

but why does one paragraph look ok but the rest ok?

I havent played with the printer settings at all.

Been using this word and the printer for ages with no problems.

select the whole document using "select all" and the check the margins as above. If the numbers disappear that means that the settings are different for different sections, if the numbers are all there then the margins are constant throughout and this is not the problem.

Can you cut and paste the wonky paragraph into the top of the preceding paragraphs using "paste special" "unformatted text"? (and then add the space between the paragraphs).
