Hi all, we are seriously considering a move from South London to the Bournemouth area; now DH has agreed to take redundancy this is looking more and more likely.

Can anyone give me advice on some of the best areas? We are looking in the £150/160k price range, for a 3-bed house.

DS will be starting nursery in Sept (not sure if we will be there by then), but I would be grateful for details on good nursery schools and infants.

I have an Aunt and Gran in the Boscombe area already, but they have only been there a couple of years themselves so can't really advise on schools. Looks like Boscome is getting out of our price range now, unfortunately.

Thanks in advance.

Jodee, we moved to Boscombe last November. We were in London, then lived in Spain for a year. We love it, it is a great place for kids and there are some good schools. There are some very good nurseries and pre-school in Boscombe, I can give you more details or try this link. childcarelink using the postcode BH6 or BH7

We are hoping to get ds into St JAmes school which is in Boscombe, it means hiking off to church every Sunday but I dont mind too much. We have bought a house for £176, it is 4 beds, detached, Victorian, backs onto a park and has a huge kitchen. It's perfect. In your price range you can get something similar but maybe not 4 beds or maybe a semi. Pokesdown is the area we bought in as it's a good school catchment and near to Pokesdown station (trains to London). Springbourne is nearby and a little cheaper, again most of the houses are Victorian which is a look that I really like. Prices are going up here but slowly. Let me know what else you need, if you want to take it further we can speak on the phone.

It's a fab place for kids and I love it. IT's also friendly so we have a nice social life. Going out ias cheaper than London and we are near the beach. Perfect.
