Is it unreasonable for a 3 yr old to use a beaker?

Would be grateful of opinions.

My ex partner complained to me a couple of days ago for letting my DC use a beaker to drink out of. He can use a cup, but at times it is safer to use a beaker i.e in the car.

Would be grateful of thoughts please. I don't feel that this is unreasonable.

no, not unreasonable at all.
ds1 still very occasionally uses a beaker and he is nearly 5!
he has to have one when drinking hot chocolate on the sofa because it inevitably gets spilled otherwise

My almost 5 yeah old daughter still has her milk in a beaker. She has a cup for water or juice but milk has to be serves warm in the beaker.. It's just how she likes it. Not the end of the world
