grill in oven trips electricity when turned on - does anyone know why? do we need to replace heating element?

this is a new oven/grill that we put in a ranted house but has not been used for 6 years. the tenants turned it on and the oven tripped the electricity so we replaced the heating element. Today they used the grill for the first time and this is now tripping the electricity. why would this be. any advice? thank ou very much!! foxy

i will ask my dh to look at this in a minute ,he is an electrician.He is outside at the moment chatting to our friend

dh says,if there is a trip on the consumer unit it will trip out ,he thinks it may be damp because it hasnt been used.He suggests warming the element up with a hairdryer and see if this makes a difference ,if it still does it you will have to replace the element on the grill.
