Do you think it is old enough to be left to play upstairs in the bedroom alone?

My DS (3) and his little friend play upstairs on their own. I just pop up every now and then (or when it goes unusually quiet!) to check on them.

I wouldn't - I find they squabble a bit too much still and need supervision to avoid tears! Although I'm quite happy for my 3 yr old to play upstairs with older friends (5/6 yrs).

But, as everything, it depends on the individual children.

I let my nearly 3 yr old play upstairs with her 5 yr old brother but have to go up regualrly due to screaming, shouting and hitting
