urgent donation advice

I would like to make a one off big donation to a charity but want that money to go to a one person (preferably a child in need or a disabled person in need and I don't want to know who that person is or them knowing me). Do you have any advice re charities accepting one off donation to one person. The reasons of wanting it to go to one person rather than the charity in general and to do it ASAP are completely religious and cultural.
Any advice would be appreciated.

I don't think they can do this though, sorry. I know when people donate to the hospital trust where I work it goes into a kitty rather then to where people want it to go. You could donate it through the church though, maybe they know the person and their needs, maybe they could use it to buy them something they know that person needs?

The vicar/leader? They would know that person or know who supports them.

do you get a local paper..? usually our local paper runs various stories on people with medical issues and needs...and in the case of the story this week it was about a little girl who was very ill and wanting to go on hoilday..

The paper printed details to donate directly to her.
Dh&I sent her something from us and the kids sent stickers...

Harley Slack is a little boy local to me that has had both arms and legs amputated .

This week Sportacus (the real one) visited him in hospital.

I think the Family Welfare Association gives financial aid directly to individuals/families, so may be able to help.

do you have a person in mind, or are you needing to find a someone to give it to?

My turning point was ds being in hospital from 3 days old....made me realise that life isn't always perfect. Since then dh & I have thanked him upstairs and do what what we can locally iykwim...

margo,try and google harley slack, you may find details to either contact the family to make a donation (address etc) or someone on their behalf...

just checked for you, apparently they haven't had time to set up a donation page etc so they say they can only atm accept payment via paypal or by cheque. This link here gives both lots of details. hth x

The girl we donated to sent us a thankyou card and a note saying she has now raised the money she needed and was now off the holiday of a lifetime..

Gives you a nice warm glow to think that I have managed to make a little girl happy..

As I explained before it is cultural, we need to do things like that at certain times to remind ourselves that we are all human and fragile. It's complicated to explain further. Thanks for your interest.
