sunbed trauma

My vanity got the better of my judgement.

I am going to a flashy do on Saturday and looked pale in my dress so went for a sunbed today. Just ten ninutes and I am sunburned all over.Sunbeds are obviously much stronger than back in the 80s when i had about three sessions at the local gym, lasting about an hour each with no change in skin colour.

Serves me right.

Gor any advice ( apart from don't do it again)

Will the redness be gone by saturday?
Will I be peeling?

Hi, would a quick flash of St Tropez (or similar) help tone down the redness and add to the tan?

suedonim · 13/05/2003 21:15

You can buy green face powder for toning down reddened cheeks - maybe that would work? Maybe the redness will be subsiding by Saturday, too. Hope it isn't sore.

I bet it has all gone by Saturday and you will look great. Only real worry is the skin damage (how boring!).

Stick to the saint tropez (said in an english accent) next time.

Aloe vera gel always worked for my sunburn and seemed to stop any peeling.

There was an awful programme on tv last night "You ruined my looks". One woman was really badly burned by a sunbed, it took 8 months to heal. Fake it, there are some really good ones on the market now.

Has anyone has a bad experience from using a unmanned sunbed?

jellyjelly · 20/05/2009 18:10

go and get some body butter from the super market and stick in on alot. I always use this when i burn even when i used factor 50. This one thing that soothes the skin.

LVCole -is there any reason why you've resurrected this thread from 6 years ago??

It wouldn't be to do with the recent media coverage about children using unmanned sunbeds would it?

sorry, doorbell went so have come back to continue my post:

If you are researching this for an article in the press for example you need to approach MNHQ and go down the media request route.
