Costco - any tips or bargains please

Hoping to join this pm (payslip and utility bill at the ready !). What should we particularly look out for while we are there.

Depends on what you like to eat really! I find a lot of stuff is not particularly cheaper than a normal supermarket though....

Things I have found good value are:

Large tubs of olives & feta (if you like them or are having a party)

Large packs of sausages - can split & freeze

Boxes of 30 croissants & pain au raisins for £3.99

Washing powder

Large tin of hot chocolate

Swedish meatballs

Eggs

Look out for a leaflet in the trolley as you go in - often have discount coupons...

Costco is opening here in Melbourne in a couple of weeks time and I cannot wait!!

Normal Meatballs - in the fresh meat counter - you can make theminto smaller ones for the DCs - a tray does about 10 meals for the kids at £5.99 so a complete bargain.

Cheese

Ham - we buy a couple of big packs, package them up into smaller portions and freeze.

Salmon - again we portion it up and freeze it.

Diet coke - the cans are very cheap.

They do a few nice Pinot Grigios that are reasonable.

If you have children I find their baby wipes are very good value and also i find they do not give my children a reaction.

As others have said their meat is good quality.

Dh like their photo paper for printing our photo's.

I usually make a list of what i am looking for from the usual suprermarkets (prices and quality) to compare.

Thansk for that . Didn't buy much this time but at least have a feel for what and how much for next time. Obviously stock comes and goes, how do you get updates as to what is coming in - do they email, mailshot or via website ?

I finally joined yesterday after many months of trying to find a way in and I was walking round like Charlie in the Chocolate factory! Didn't buy much although was very pleased with my catering size tub of marmite and loads of cokes but I need to really sit down and work out what would be worthwhile buying bulk of, such as washing powder etc. Very exciting though It's very easy to get carried away and buy creates of Haribo and KitKats...

Our house and garage is full of it all! But would rather do this than have to buy it everytime I go to the supermarket.

The meat we break up into smaller portions and freeze.

Thanks, that's really helpful although no garage . Didn't know that about the nappies. I bought enough Huggies to see dd through till the potty when I was there on Saturday.
