can i colour polyester if so how?

hi i have brought a lace jacket thingie i would like to wear over my dress for our vow renewals..but my dress is a delicate cream and the jacket is very white.can i dye the lace jacket thingie?thank you ,

I would assume you could machine dye it with dylon - but you'd probably need to check the packet first (its very very simple)

word of caution - wouldn't try to dye it to match but to blend - like go for a coffee or a brown maybe?

I think dying man made fabrics is tricky - the dyes for natural fibres won't work IIRC and that's what the machine dyes are for.

Can you try a tea bath? PG Tips kind.... The worst that can happen is it is ruined....I have never tried dying anything other than cotton.

I have tried to dye a top which i think was a polyester mix... i wanted it black but it came out grey....
so you could try doing it a dark colour and it may come out light...

could you get some material that goes with both dress and jacket and have a seamstress loosely line the lace - so I'd imagine a satiny / silk in a mocha colour maybe?

might must make the jacket look whiter though .... still just a thought

starlover thats a good idea.! dh has had an idea buy a scap of poly and try the dye,why didnt i think of that
