.. to mend a hole in a fine knit jumper? I ask on behalf of a friend who has just emailed me really upset about it.

Any advice would be appreciated.
I presume you can't just sew it closed?

(is it obvious I have never been into knitting?)

is it a big hole?? or is it just a loop of wool?? i would try to sew it up inside out. perhaps.

Why don't you ask in the Arts and Crafts section, and say in the thread title that you need help with mending a hole in a jumper? You might find a few more people click on it if they know what the problem is.

Doh, never thought to ask there. Wil try, cheers!

get some wool or cotton of the same colour and work round the edge of the whole joining the loops of each row back together.

Won't be perfect but will be servicable.
