Dried up paint

Is there any way of rescuing it? I thought about heating it up but will that just dry it out more?

What sort of paint is it? If it's any kind of house paint, emulsion, gloss etc, you can forget it. If it's poster paint or blocks of water colour, use a wet brush on it.
