Sorry but my blood is boiling!!!!!!!! I recently got new neighbours, they exchanged with my old neighbours, so they should have taken the house as seen, but since they have been there they have had the council workers in and out. They have had a whole new kitchen put in.... (one of the posh ones not the crppy ones the rest of the street have got) He works for the council and is really taking the pss. They have just had a door delivered for the cupboard under the stairs........ I just have a hole!!!!!!
I am also annoyed about another matter....... they want to replace the fencing (fine thats ok) but I am paying half for the fencing between us, andthe old boy on the other side is paying the whole lot on his side!!!!!!!! I feel that we are being ripped off and he will end up paying the grand total of £30 for the entire garden!!!!!! I know that he will do the work but AAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!! Seeing that legally I do not have to pay for the left hand side, just the right, I might tell him to stick it!!! Let him pay for his side!!
He is a big mouth too and has been shouting off about how much he has spent on the COUNCIL house since he has been there (£6000 in 5 weeks) and peeing all the neighbours off. But he can't afford to buy the house! He is slimy and keeps looking at my boobs too!!!!!!!!
Sorry to sound off here!!!!!!

Sorry Its sounds like I am jealous of them but I'm not!!! I just feel that its unfair on the rest of the street..... We all have to wait till 2006-2010 for our new kitchens and some of the older people still have the first kitchens that were put in when the houses were built in 1940, and they badly need repairing. One of the neighbours whole house needs under pinning and she has to move out for this work to take place and she has been waiting over a year. I had to have an extention built for my two disabled children and they are moaning coz it blocks some of the light and then they had the cheek to say that we should have moved!!!!!!!! I looked a bungalows and flats but they had tiny rooms and weren't suitable. Makes me mad!!!!!!

I'm not surprised you're mad!

54321 · 08/05/2003 09:58

I'm not surprised you need to sound off either - it would make me feel sooooooo mad too!

kazzi · 08/05/2003 10:01

makes my blood boil too.Least you must have better knockers than his mrs. Can't you complain with your other neighbours that he seems to be getting star treatment.

slug · 08/05/2003 10:17

Sounds like the sort of thing you read of in Private Eye. You could always write to them with dark mutterings about corruption in X council etc etc. They probably won't publish it but it will make you feel better.

Tortington · 08/05/2003 17:27

might be worth a word with him coming over all nicey nicey and ask about how he got his kitchen

then write a letter of complaint to the council sending copies to your local ward councillor, MP, and threatening to go to the newspaper.

working for a housing association this kinda thing happens a lot - threats with newpapers that is.... and everyone grabs their own arses and runs round trying to fix things so they dont land in the shit

mieow · 08/05/2003 18:20

they said that the council gave them ONE base unit and they paid for the rest...... I don't believe this for a second as the council wouldn't give you just one unit and you are not allowed to pay for council equiment. I mean, if I offered the council £1000 to pay for a kitchen they would laugh in my face and tell me to pee off............ and they have had council workers in there nearly every day doing work in council time so they can't even say that the workers are working overtime.......

you can put your won kitchen in tho, if you ask permission in writing and its granted ( usually is with some conditions)

i see your point about your gobby neighbour using council workmen though.

mieow · 09/05/2003 10:54

I am going to put my own kitchen in but have to save the £2,500 first..... I am after a pine and crome one........ mmmmmmmmmmm

ahhhh i've had yet another run in with my next door neighbour and i'm so shaky from this.....last time he camr round shouting abuse to my husband I was at work but today I was in the back garden with dd aged 2.8 months(and has cerebral palsy)and can't stand/walk unaided when all of a sudden he was shouting over the fence that we had damaged the footings in the garden when we had erected our fence(last year). At this stage I noticed he had tied wire around our concrete posts and politely told him that we had caused no damage(we had the fence put in by professionals and also gave up about 3 inches of our land down the border to his property so that we didn't have to touch the small boudary fence that had been put in place by the builders)at all to his property as the fence was on our land, and in that case could you please remove the wire fromour property-by this stage he was then standing on something and peering right in to our garden and shouting rather unpolite words.I told him if it wasn't removed and he didn't get off our fence i would call the police.
He continued shouting so I went and took dd inside, unfortunately I couldn't phone the police as I was on the way out to a hospital appt with dd and didn't have the time. The police were called last year by us and they talked to him and kind of told us that he is a bit weird??(he is in his forties and single and this is the first time he has left home-the property actually belongs to the father)
About 3 weeks ago the police were called by neighbours as he was shouting and verbally abusing/harrassing 2 young boys aged 10 for no reason.....I am really uncomfortable about this(especially as dh works shifts and is away some eves)and don't know what to do next.....any help/ideas grateful
thanks for reading I know it's a bit long and I haven't even included half of what's gone on...

Queenie · 10/05/2003 13:59

Run him over when he's next out in the street or perhaps set fire to his house when he's sleeping -if these are a little strong do not hesitate to call the police next time he breathes over your fence and consult a lawyer. I know there is little the police can do if he doesn't actually physically assult you but if he's weird and threatening the authorities need to know. Where is his father? Does his family know he's barking??

chatee · 10/05/2003 14:58

thanks for replying Queenie, apparently the whole family are a little weird(another neighbours hubby is a policeman and grew up near him-)and yeah weirdo has had an argument with him too.does anyone know how high you can have a fence without neighbours objecting ie:lack of light???

lou33 · 10/05/2003 15:56

Chatee, this is copied an pasted from a diy website:

Gates, walls and fences do not require Planning Permission or Building Regulation approval if:
They are no more than 2m high.
or
If they adjoin a highway, no more than 1m high .
Although Building Regulations do not apply, remember that you may be liable if members of the public suffer damage from the structure. So the structure must be structurally sound and maintained. Barbed wire below 2 metres is not a good idea adjacent to a highway, nor are spikes or broken glass embedded along the top of a wall.

Also this might give you ideas, such as adding trellis.

Otherwise I would check with your local council about planning permission. Your neighbour sounds awful, I have great sympathy for you, we moved house because of ours, they made our life unbearable.

Queenie · 11/05/2003 08:52

The problem with disputes with neighbours is that you are obligated to inform potential buyers of the history - I assume this is only if court action is taken and not just because you don't get on. I know this is the case for instance if you have an injunction against noisy neighbours because I saw it on one of those neighbours from hell programmes. Good Luck!!

chatee · 11/05/2003 16:26

thanks for that lou33, we are going to erect a trellis to make the fence bigger, he's started again this afternoon when dd and i were in the garden so i phoned the police-they came out took details and spoke to him but even the police say they don't think it will stop and to consult a solicitor and make a record of all his weird activity.we also need a solicitors letter to get him to remove straps he has tied round our fence otherwise we would be classed as damaging his straps(although the police can see it's on our property)they can't get involved with that.so it looks like we are going to have to pay out money(which we haven't really got) just for a peaceful life......aaaaaggggghhhh

chatee · 11/05/2003 16:28

can't put the trellis up until the straps are removed!!!
