When to get feet measured for first time?

When should i get DD feet measured? She is 9 months old now and is standing on her own and walks whilst pushing her trolley.

They say wait until she can walk unaided and has done so for a few weeks, but you can get pre-walking shoes from Clarks which might be useful for you if your dd is pushing her trolley outside in the garden.

when you want to take her out to the park and she walks around holding on to the equipment but even then the shoes are soft and should IMHO only be used when your outside - bare feet best for as long as possible

I think the current advice is once they have been walking a couple of weeks. Not sure if they still do it, but when mine had their first Clarks shows they took a polaroid of them in the shop and pit it in a little folder with their name, age, shoe size and fitting.. and 'My First Shoes' written on it. Bless.. I have mine kids' ones in my keepsake box.

We got DD's feet measured properly when she was walking unaided - at about 10.5 months.

She was cruising with furniture/trolley/etc much earlier but we only put shoes on when outside. These were not measured shoes though - just very soft leather type ones.

yep bare feet are the best thing!
like lonelymum says, cruisers etc are good if she will be outside, but do bear in mind that the soles are very soft... and sharp stones and things could still hurt her feet.

Proper shoes not really advised until she has been walking unaided for about 6 weeks, although it does vary a bit.

I will wait, just my friend has proper shoes on her 9 month old and he isn't walking at all yet. Thanks for advice knew i could count on you lot xx

the problem with having hard-soled shoes on a child which isn't walking yet is that it won't be able to feel the floor through them. This is really important in helping them to balance and "find their feet"
putting them in proper shoes before they are walking confidently can actually hold them back rather than encourage them.

also, you want the foot to develop naturally and strengthen enough to be able to walk, which it may not do if it is being supported by a stiff shoe

even too tight socks can damage a baby's feet because the bones are so tiny
