Probably putting this in the wrong place but cant find the right one.. Feeling compelled to tell the world DO NOT JOIN THE BFC BOOK CLUB that everyone gets gumf on when you have a baby. They have enticing free stuff to get you to join and i was pathetically sucked in. Its one of the stupidest decisions i have made! Their tactics for getting your money are infuriating. Firstly, you do not have to purchase just 4 books to fulFill your membership obligation as they say, you have to buy 4 expensive books or 4 'editors choice' book sets - usually 4 in each. You get sent this editors choice every month that is usually crap you dont want, and then have to pay for them or pay to post them back. You can opt out of this but have to do it each time before their deadline and they rely on the fact that new mothers are likely to forget. You get slapped with lots of fees for late payments, late returns etc etc. You then have to have a fight with an imbocile in India who tells you there is nothing she can do because its all system generated and she cant change it. I was sent a set of books i didnt want after i had emailed requesting my account be closed, then had to pay for the returns label, which came 2 months later, at which time when i returned the books they charged me a late fee. Its very difficult to get out of the club! i have phoned numerous times and cancelled by email as well, but am still recieving invoices for unexplained fees. I have been told my account is closed but as i refuse to pay the late fee (that was incurred by their own lateness in sending the label) i will recieve invoices for it for ever more. AAAAAaaaaaarrrrrghhhhhh!

Thanks for the warning !

I wouldn't be interested in this particular club but it reinforces my resolution not to get involved with anything similar any more, had bad experiences myself.

Sorry you've had so much trouble !

I like BFC - they don't have the editor's choice now so only send you the books you order.

The only thing is it's supposed to be free P&P for orders over £4.99 at the moment if you order online but everytime I go to checkout it's still coming up with a price for P&P. Anyone know how to make it come up with free P&P?

I had no problems cancelling my membership, after I had fulfilled the compulsayr buys bit.

I tried to cancel my membership but they insisted I was a extra-special-5 starred-platinum-plated member and therefore no longer needed to say whether or not I wanted the editors choice.
they insisted on still sending me the magazine. I haven't ordered anything from it in about 5 years and no longer even open it.
