Does anyone keep bees?

Moving on from the chicken thread I was wondering if any of you kept bees? I like the idea of a hive tucked away in the corner (we are big honey eaters) but am not sure if you need a really big garden to lose it in - bearing in mind the children!

Ooooh I love honey. Don't know if I would dare keep bees though.

I know! Love the idea but is it realistic with small children around?

No but my friend's DH does. He gets stung regularly and it would need quite a bit of research and training I think. Good Luck

My dh heard somewhere that you have to 'let' yourself be stung (don't think that would be too hard) at least once a year - something to do with allergies I think. Am obviously concerned about the children though and wondered if anyone had succesfully combined both (bees and children!)
