If my BP has been consistently 118/74 but is now 140/72 is that okay or not?

I think it's the lower figure one has to worry about is it not? I'm not sure.

Hi Hobb - mine was 140-ish over 80-ish at the hosp. a couple of weeks ago and it freaked the staff out to be honest. I'd gone in because of reduced fetal movements - once we'd established baby was OK, mine came down to 120/70 and has been fine ever since (including a check done a couple of hours ago).
I'd give the madwife a ring if I were you - sounds a wee bit high to me. Any swelling or visual disturbances chuck?

Both numbers are important according to my specialist guy although I think when the numbers are close together that is not really very good. IBP can be very volitile, have you tried resting for 20 minutes before taking yours (aslo reccomendation of specialist) one high reading is not a crisis, consistent high readings are someting else. Also normal range at start of preg mis 130/70 so you are only slightly over that. sorry I have to dash out right now but I will come back later

I do think you ought to be checked out, if you've been consistently low ish and then jumped it's not a great thing. I'm sure you're fine but worth making sure

Hmm... thanks for your thinking on this.

I was a bit surprised yesterday when I looked at my notes but only really started dwelling on it today when legs swelled up like tree trunks. However, even this I am erring on attributing to heat as my hands and face are okay.

Vision is okay but do get the odd floaty weird thing across vision, but that was there before the higher BP reading.
