Bit of info needed

Hi. Just a question about using information.

If I use something from a website, but cannot contact the owner of the website as they don't seem to exist. What can I do? Am I still able to use it?

it probably depends on what your using the info for.

and whether you are using the information or just copying the text - anythign more than 10% and not quoting the source is plagiarism

can you re-write it ?

A book. I am writing a ghost stories book, but cannot get hold of a person who has designed a website with a bit of useful info on.

It is pretty much completely my own work. I am trying to use a few ghost stories, but they are badly written so I am re-writing anyway.

Where do I stand on this?

have you tried doing a whois search on the site?
