They both sound pretty hard myermay. i must confess, I'd be more likely to go for something simpler like Jack (as in 'and Jill') - shorts, shirt, maybe bow tie, bucket and bandage round the head. Or Johnny Thin from Ding Dong Bell - similar outfit but carrying a very soggy toy cat.
Maybe more creative mnetters will be more helpful!

what about wee willie in his pj's, baa baa black sheep? mask, black cloth and wool....

for teh spider Id dress him in black and stuff two pairs of tights up for the extra legs then attach to the back of the top IYGWIM.

Spider would be fairly easy if he wears black tights or tracksuit btms and black top, black wooly hat and make four extra legs by stuffing blck tights and attaching could add some extras and carry a bit of drain pipe! Could add some fun fur on arms and legs and back
