Do you pay private parking tickets?

Our local supermarket has just started enforcing their 2 hour limit by using numberplate cameras (time in/out) run by a company called Parking Eye.

We've just had a parking ticket sent to us for £40 for the period 8 pm - 11.03 p.m. last Sat. The store wasn't even open for much of that time!

One of my friends says that private parking tickets can't be enforced - is this true?

Should I just ignore it then?

there's an article here

looks like if you want to challenge it, you'd need to go to court.
