How much does it cost to get your piano tuned?

Does anyone have an idea of the kind of price I should be looking for?

Even I can tell dd's piano needs to be tuned as soon as possible.

Depends where you live, apparently, Cam. This site gives an idea. Haven't had ours done for nearly 2 years, last time I think was c £30, and we're in Lancs.

Our tuner has an incredible electronic machine which fine-tunes for him, so it takes a lot less time and makes a lot less noise, but the machine was v expensive so he factors that in.

We pay around £50.00 in Central Scotland.

It cost me about £30. And because of the state of some of the strings that wasn't to concert pitch.

£65. Ours hadn't been done in a while, he also took the edge off some of the hammers, and another bit of maintainance. Was here about 1.5 hours. He didn't tune it to concert pitch (that would have cost more, he implied, and none of us play, so we can't exactly tell the difference, anyway!) I think £50-£70 is typical around here (Norfolk).

Ours is big & old... the tuner told me that to buy equivalent quality new would cost £20k, so... it may be complicated to get tuned.
