I can't remember who started it but it was a joke about , erm, er... anyway, it grew out of the GF thread as a place to retreat from controversial threads! There was a thread about eating placenta's someewhere which got dragged into it. Something about all being Earth Mothers.

It all made perfect sense at the time. Sort of...

read the gina ford good or bad thread from the bottom and it all begins to make perfect sense.

no it doesn't but it is a good laugh

all this yurt stuff got me thinking that a giant one would be the perfect place for Mumsnet meet-ups.... AND we could take it on tour around the country (they're portable like tents aren't they? Or have I got it wrong?)
Anyway, if you're a Yurt manufacturer out there - listen up - we want a giant one - and brand it Mumsnet while you're at it....
(P.S. for free, of course, in return for excellent PR - who knows, they could catch on as a garden accessory for stressed Mum's - y'know, a bit like the female equivalent of a graden shed to escape to.....)

"yurt manufacturer" but surely all yurts are hand woven out on the steppe?!

They are portable, sort of in the way that a large marquee is portable, need about 7 horses!

They're very warm and comfy though, but no good for mumsnetters...there's no power for the computer!
