My friend's birthday is coming up and also her hen night is in August. For the hen night she has specified no strippers and no tack. Everyone wants to hire some sort of limo thing. I'm not sure she'll like it. Which, if any of these do you think could pass the tack-free test?

  1. A Limo - black, white, silver or pink

  2. A hummer - same colours

  3. A novelty limo - fire engine, yellow new your taxi, NYPD police car, army tank limo

Don't worry if you think none, we'll just have to come up with something else!!

none

Nice dinner, dress right up, in a lovely restaurant and then cocktails - or the other way around.

WinkyWinkola · 16/05/2009 18:18

They're all pretty naff IMO.

The least tacky mode of transport is a red London bus. But that's a wee bit naff too.

wiggletastic · 16/05/2009 18:18

limo (incl. all above) = tack

smallchange · 16/05/2009 18:19

None of the above! If she doesn't want tack then I would assume it included novelty transport.

HeadFairy · 16/05/2009 18:20

At the very very most, a black limo (none of the other colours) but not a dreadful stretch one with lots of silly lights in. If she wants classy, no tat, how about hiring a fab car for her for the night like a Bentley or something for her and her closest friends, and the rest behind in a taxi?

peggotty · 16/05/2009 18:20

god, no limos, the epitomy of tack!

IStoleSamsPony · 16/05/2009 18:21

novelty transport of all kinds = tack

I wouldn't have been impressed.

Cocktails at home (or out if you prefer) and then on to a nice meal followed by bar or dancing.

I had meal somewhere local followed by everyone back to mine for cocktails. Was cheap, cheerful and a good time was had by all.

nappyaddict · 16/05/2009 18:41

What about a limo that's a Bentley?

OP posts:
fryalot · 16/05/2009 18:43

none.

By tack she may mean "anything that will make everyone stare" and every one of those will make people stare.

norktasticninja · 16/05/2009 18:44

Any sort of limo type thing = tack IMHO

nappyaddict · 16/05/2009 19:02

norktastic the Bentley one aswell?

OP posts:
Mamazon · 16/05/2009 19:04

None.
they are all tacky.

Overmydeadbody · 16/05/2009 19:05

nappyaddict unless she's crazy for this sort of thing the money could be far better spent on something tasteful for her.

A really good meal, really good wine etc would probably go down well, or if she's up for just drinking then lots of booze.

Mamazon · 16/05/2009 19:08

mind you if the fire engine comes complete with firemen.......

GrimmaTheNome · 16/05/2009 19:11

Not a Hummer. The grossest vehicle I've ever seen was a stretch Hummer. Mind boggled at how few MPG that must do. Way beyond tacky

HeavyweightChampion · 16/05/2009 19:11

agree with the rest, none,

for me, a push bike in amsterdam is about as far as i could manage in the way of novelty transport,

GrimmaTheNome · 16/05/2009 19:11

It sounds like what you need is simply a minibus with sober driver.

Frizbe · 16/05/2009 19:17

none, I vote for minibus and driver.
