I have just had a really enjoyable Easter holiday with ds (and dd of course but she's not going anywhere tomorrow!!). We went out somewhere more or less every day, to a farm, a museum, the pictures, ds was on good form throughout, no major rows or tantrums, and we all had a really lovely time.

He is going back to school tomorrow and I feel really depressed. I am going to miss his company sooo much. I used to hate the end of the holidays when I was a kid, but I didn't realise I would feel the same as a parent!!!!! Anyone else feeling like me? Or perhaps just a bit of cheering up someone?!!!! I need it....

I dont know about missing my kids, but it certainly feels much more natural to have my brood round me in the holidays! I often am glad though when the school "babysits" for 6 hours! They have got a holiday in 4 weeks again anyway havent they?!

Nutjob, I'm not looking forward to ds going back tomorrow either. I've liked lazy starts to the day, no school run, spending time together, going out, staying in, playing games or doing nothing much. Dp is on holiday too so we've had a lovely family time this last couple of weeks. 2 years ago I would never have believed I'd feel like this. I'm not exactly depressed about it but I will miss him.

I am a teacher... very depressing for us too!!

Claireandrich · 27/04/2003 20:36

As a teacher I am starting to feel the opposite - I get them all back on Tuesday whilst DD goes back to nursery. I gt so used to being at home and DD being with me more (only send her once a week whilst I cram in as much work as possible on those days, or after she's gone to bed). Tuesday will be a nightmare too - have to tell my year 11's the coursework marks and what they need to do in the exams to get a decent grade. Won't be a great chat believe me - they're marks are not good!!!!

I'm just the same! My 2 oldest (5 and 7) go back tomorrow and we've had a fab holiday. Visits to a farm, picnics in the park, down to the beach, cinema to see Jungle Book 2 - the time has just flown by!

We've not been getting up until 8am - bliss! so will be a bit of a culture shock when the alarm goes off at 6.30am tomorrow.

DD2 (3) is back at nursery tomorrow and I'm back to work at the nursery as well!

Oh well, only another 4 weeks to the next break!

www - you're so right, that's another thing I HAVEN'T missed, the dreaded school run, I don't know about you, but round our way it's like taking your life into your own hands!!!! Oh well, will be moving 5 minutes walk away from the school soon, so at least that's one thing I won't have to contend with for much longer!! Yes, charliecat, you're right there is only 4 weeks till the next one, but my problem is I worry excessively about him whilst he's there (I will probably get over this feeling soon -PLEASE- it must be something to do with letting my first born out into the big wide world on his own!!) It was nice to relax and just enjoy being together over the past 2 weeks.

Yes, I have enjoyed this holiday, too. We didn't rush around the country visiting relatives for once, they came to us. Had lots of great days out and it's back to work tomorrow (long day on a Monday - boo).
