Why do I keep losing messenger 7.0?

I keep updating to messenger 7.0, but whenever I turn off my pc, it dissapears.

In my add/remove programs list only messenger 7.0 is displayed, but in reality the one which opens when I click on the icon is the older version?

Can anyone help? I'm not on broadband ATM, so downloading each time is taking ages!

do you try clicking on start then programs and seeing if messenger 7 is listed?

Hang on, right I've signed in through the start menu and it has gone to messenger 7.0 .....

But, how do I update the icons on the tool bar? I had thought removing the old version would stop it from opening it, but according to my pc it isn't installed?!

What happens if you exit from the messenger launched from the toolbar (my icon vanishes) and then reopen the new one? Assuming you mean the botome right bit of the tool bar, not next to the start button.

my icon vanishes aswell, i always have to fetch it out of programs iykwim

Fio, I think I'll retrieve it from there from now on! Would be much more simple than the current 'guess the icon' game each time I try to login!

SD, I've got rid of the old icon (somehow!) for now, hopefully it wont return again when I re-boot!
