Ive tried to claim job seekers allowance as there was not suitable hours at work for me after maternity leave. Beacuse I chose to leave JSA are saying they are having problems processing my claim. It has been going on for almost 6 weeks now and Im desperate because I can not get help with housing until they decide.
I keep getting passed around and I am now waiting for a call back from them which I might have to wait another week for!!!
I have been told to get a crisis loan but I am scared I wont be able to make the repayments.
If anyone is in this position or has any advice it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

can you go into the office find out exactly what they need to proces the claim.

If you have any letters from the landlord demanding rent etc bring them in with you.

if you leave your job voluntarily then i dont think your allowed to claim for a period, i think its about 8 weeks?

maybe if you get a letter from your old employer detailing the facts that there were no positions suitable for youand that although you were not fired they couldn't re employ you following your maternity leave.

it may help speed things up a bit

I looked into it and its 6 months for payment but ive also heard 6weeks too so not sure there. Even if they decided not to pay me at least if they made a decision I could get started on the housing thing! My employer is sending them a letter now so hopefully things will speed up. Its so frustrating!!! Thanks for the help tho! x
