Does anyone know sign language?

Met a lovely family at ds's gym lesson today who were all using sign language. Ds was trying to 'talk' to the little girl, and the mother was trying to communicate with me but a little difficult as I don't know BSL. Can anyone suggest any resources so we can work out something nice to sign to them next week?

Hi- I am a teacher of the deaf and have recommended this site to some of our hearing pupils who are interested in learning simple BSL.

HTH!

Do you know if it was BSL or Makaton? Something Special uses Makaton, which I think is quite often used for smaller children and those with SN such as Downs Syndrome.

thank you everyone, especially smartiejake for the link. It was definitely BSL, not Makaton

Ds tried the Makaton sign for apple from Something Special and the mother showed him the BSL sign, it was very sweet.

(I dredged up the BSL alphabet from somewhere in my hindbrain - think I learnt it at Girl Guides - but got stuck after 'E' so it was rather limiting!).
