Car Boot Sales/Auctions - how do I find out where they are

Can anyone tell me how I get listings of where car boot sales are and where auctions will happen. I just did a search and found a website but they want me to pay for the information and I'm not that desperate. I just thought it would be good to find the info out if we decide to go on a weekend when we don't have much on.

Check your local paper as it should list these.

Thanks. I live in central London and I don't think our local paper will have any but I'll start searching/calling the outer edges of London papers.

We don't mind travelling quite long distances so if you do know of something that gives us an overview of the UK preferably south then that would be good.

be carefull at boot fairs I brought a great baby gym for DD for £10 all in box everything what a bargin I thought, because the lady was so nice and it was at the start of the boot fair I asked her if she would look after it for me as I was on my own with 2 children and a pushchair(DH was just finding somewhere to park)She agreed and I walked of DH caught me up about 25 mins later we went back and guess what she had speeded off. It's not the first time I have done this but will never do it again I would never do a thing like that and think everyone would treat me the same. What made it worse I think was that someone had given me that money as a present for DD and I felt like they had stolen from her.

Jobey - how rude is that. That is just disgusting. I'll bear that in mind for any boot fairs I attend.

Wow Jobey that's awful _ I'm a real boot fan and often leave stuff to collect - no bad experiences so far but maybe I'm a bit too trusting in the light of your experience!

I found this on the bbc website, don't know if it helps.

Kingsland Waste
If second-hand shops, car boot sales and flea markets are your thing, you’ll love The Waste. As its name suggest, this vast, sprawling market takes place on a piece of East End wasteland, and is home to row upon row of makeshift stalls and rails. From the mundane and everyday to the weird and wonderful, you’ll love searching the hoards of second-hand electrical goods and piles of clothes and shoes for a bargain.
Address: Kingsland Rd, E8
Open: Sat 9am-5pm

You could also try Loot newspaper.

Thanks Lou. I didn't think about the Loot and I'm sure that will have loads in London. The Kingsland Waste one sounds interesting as well and definitely worth a look.
