SamboM · 25/04/2003 10:58

kaz33 · 25/04/2003 11:00

So we are looking for an American soul singer who has the same name as an English town !

nerdgirl · 25/04/2003 11:01

GillW, I think you're right about the theme so could the answer to 9 be Billy Preston?

Don't see how the 'New Deal' fits in though.

nerdgirl · 25/04/2003 11:03

Just got the lyric. It's the Jarrow song.

GillW · 25/04/2003 11:06

nerdgirl - "Deal" is a town in Kent!

kaz33 · 25/04/2003 11:06

Deal is an English town.

DP just confirmed Billy Preston.

nerdgirl · 25/04/2003 11:07

Thanks GillW, English geography is never going to be my Mastermind specialist subject!

Fionn · 26/04/2003 07:56

mum2toby - don't worry, I only knew two of these but luckily the other team members knew a few more between them! What about the lyric and anagram anyone? Same theme.

I pride myself on my general knowledge but HATE pub quizzes ... can never do them!!!!

nerdgirl · 26/04/2003 09:07

Fionn, the lyric is definitely "The Jarrow Song" but I haven't a clue about the anagram.

GillW · 26/04/2003 21:35

The anagram has been bugging me - nearest I can get is Weston-Super-Mare, but to be that it would have to be RENEWS MOUSETRAPS, not RENEWED MOUSETRAPS.

WideWebWitch · 26/04/2003 23:37

Gillw, I thought Weston Super Mare too and came to the same conclusion, that either I was wrong or Fionn typed it wrong. I gave up in the end and thought I'd wait for someone else to get it and put me out of my misery!

Fionn · 27/04/2003 00:37

Yes I'm very sorry. I typed in the anagram wrong!
