I have lived in my flat for 2 yrs now and the old tennents still get EVERYTHING delivered here its annoying to say the least - anyway i just make a pile of it and someone comes and collects it.

Anyway today DS2 (2) got hold on one of the envelopes that had fallen off this pile and opened it, it was porn but not only porn it was "pre teen" porn with what looked like young girls. It was sick and i should imagine very illegal. DO i have to report this to the police - after all some company some where is sending this out to people!

Needless to say i have removed it imediatley. It made me sick. What do i do?

were they def. under 18? or just made to look under 18..not that that makes it ok but not a whole lot the police would do when the 'models' are over 18.

Granny23 · 06/05/2009 12:31

Perhaps take it to the Royal Mail sorting office and let them deal with it. I believe it is illegal to send porn through the post.
Take them all the mail so that they can check it.

Niftyblue · 06/05/2009 12:32

Can you not ask them to stop delievering boxes to your flat
Explain that DS is at the age he is into everything and you are worried he might damage their post????
don`t mention what he opened

TitsalinaBumsquash · 06/05/2009 12:32

Tbh i don't know i only looked at the front cover there was no way i was opening the mag. They didn't have any breasts and were vfery sparse on the pubic hair front. They looked young but like you say they could be posing younger than they are. Should i just bin it and have harsh words with previous tenents about thier mail situation?

Oh yes either way ishall definatley be telling them under no cirucmstances do i want thier mail here anymore. They even buy from tv shopping channels and get it delivered here, all thier insurece and bank stuff comes here. I have mentioned it in a friendly way in the past several times and they responded by brining me a box of chocolates! I will have to put a stop to it.

Yes take all the mail to the sorting office, and tell them you found porn and say you don't want it in your home. Take some ID/proof of address so they know it's not addressed to YOU.

Next time the previous people come to get their mail tell them you've returned it all to the sorting office - they should get a redirection if they care that much. I hate people who do this, our last lot didn't come for about 9 months, they'd moved abroad, yet they came here asking for their post - I'd actually binned a huge pile of it the previous week but I just told them there wasn't anything.

Bloody cheek though.

BitOfFun · 06/05/2009 12:35

Id go to the police, no question. To cover yourself if nothing else, but it would feel a duty really, knowing what some of those children go through. Seriously, if you suspect it is underage porno, you really must.

InternationalFlight · 06/05/2009 12:35

No, don't get involved by telling them, it's not your problem - you can alert the police or just take it all to the RM depot.

TitsalinaBumsquash · 06/05/2009 12:38

Why is she a professinal on this sort of thing?

I have spoken to DP he says to ring the non emergency local police line and explain what happened and see what they say.

I think I'd take it to the police if you suspect it is underage porn. Then leave it in their hands to deal with.

As for the mail, just start writint "not known at this address. Return to sender" on all the envelopes and pop them back in a post box. Next time they come calling explain that you will be returning all mail to sender from now on and they need to sort it out.

harleyd · 06/05/2009 12:44

just btw, a friend of mine had a lot of bother a few years ago when she moved house. previous owners had kept getting stuff delivered to her house and she ended up her address was blacklisted

BitOfFun · 06/05/2009 12:44

Return to sender is a load of hassle though, there must be a better solution?

Jux · 06/05/2009 12:49

Stop keeping it for them. Just write Not Known at This Address and send it back. They are really taking advantage of you, and I would worry that

a) they are buying things which eventually they do not pay for and you will get the bailiffs at the door

b) they are buying illegal stuff and you will have to deal with whatever that throws up.

Do not accept parcels for them at all ever.

After two years I wouldn't even be bothering sending letters back; I'd be binning them.

TitsalinaBumsquash · 06/05/2009 12:50

Right i have contacted the ocal police and they are coming to collect the porn in case its dodgey.

I am trying to contact RM to ask if there is anyway i can stop getting sent mail that is for a certain surname, currently not able to speak to an actual human about only a recording.

I shall bin everything else in the meantime.

OP posts:
PortBlacksandResident · 06/05/2009 12:54

I wouldn't bin anything else just yet as the police might want to go through it.
