Bloody hell I have just been tricked

A man knocked on the door with a leaflet in his hand asking if I would be interested in self defence or karate .

My ds piped up that he wanted to do karate so to be polite I asked if he would leave the leaflet .

He slipped leaflet back in his folder and is coming back at 6.30 to talk us all through the various options and payment plans .

I just stood like this .

They do karate free round the corner so I will take ds there I really though he would hand me a leaflet and bugger off .

I will be in the bath at 6.30 .

Mind you should I annoy him he may be an expert in self defence .

Did you try to say no thankyou? i know it is hard. I would face him and say 'actually we've had a think and decided it's not fir us at the moment, thanks all the same' then keep repeating it if he won't go away.

If you just ignore the door he'll come back tomorrow.

DP will be back by then so I might send him to the door .

He talked so fast and could see that I was trying to hold a big barking dog back and various children so he had the advantage .

Yes, you must see him and you must be forceful. Will there be another adult there for support. I'm sure you won't need physical support, but a bit of moral support, might make the word NO come easier!

Tell him 'actually I've been reminded that they do karate for free round the corner, so this might not be the best place to be selling those courses'.

I am just shocked at how snidey he was with his fake leaflet.

How is it a fake leaflet? Surely a real leaflet, for a real course, which you don't need to join or pay for because you can get the same for free.

I had a man round trying to sell me karate lessons...I was 20 weeks pregnant

TA ok not fake but a trickery leaflet holding it in his hand until I asked for one then slipping it back in his folder and saying he would call round instead .

Anyway he called back dp said thanks but no thanks and he went .

Oooh, that's a nasty trick leaflet. I always take bits of paper off people in the hope that they will go away.
