Anyone else had problems with dodgy plumber???

Been sold a boiler that turns out to be a couple of years old when we got it. Plumber that put it in is blaming the supplier. Boiler has a leaky valve or summat so needs fixing and it also needs to be serviced.

It means that our two year guarantee isn't being honoured by Homeserve as they say it's an old bioler that only comes with a 12month guarantee. Even though they send me paperwork yesterday referring to my two year guarantee that is about to run out on 16/05/09. They told me to take it up with the installers.

Plumber is coming round on thursday for 'chat'.

What the hell do I do? Feels like everyone's trying to diddle me.

The first one we had was quite insane - we had to ask him to leave when he smashed up the sink with a hammer. I kid you not.
The second one was lovely ie he turned up but took to eating pies a lot in his van. Day three and the poor man had a complete nervous breakdown. We kept getting tearful phonecalls and letters from him and we had to keep reassuring him it was ok. (well it bloody was not ok but he was very upset)
The third one we are still waiting for a year later.....
If you get a good one blinks, chain him to the job - feed him pies if necessary. Don't let him leave until it is fixed.

It sounds like you are getting the runaround but surely if Homeserve sent the paperwork guaranteeing the boiler until 16th May then it is still good? Unless they are trying to stall for time, the swines.

homeserve prolly stalling for time methinks GO... they think they've foxed me into submission. i'm going to fox them back and turn the tables on them bygod. they don't know who they're dealing with etc etc so on and so forth.

pie man sounds like a man on the edge. maybe plumbing is attractive to the loons?

my plumber seems quite normal but i shall have some pies and a leash within easy reaching distance just in case .
