Hiya,

I am desperate to get my tounge pierced. Planned on having it done last november, but needed dental treatment so waited. Then had an exam - didn't want the pain etc. So now I really want it. Have the chance of having it done Tuesday morning (when having another piercing).

But, I had a tooth removed tuesday, so wound will be a week old when I have piercing. Is this practical? Dentist just said not too have any piercings there at all, and wouldn't tell me if it is safe to have the two wounds open together. But, people have two teeth removed having the two open wounds so what is the difference?

Any help?

(Also, if you have had a tounge piercing, how did it effect your speech in the early days?)

Thanks

A friend of mine had it done years ago and couldn't talk properly or eat for a week as tongue was so swollen.

I had mine done about ten years ago. No idea about the open wound question, but in terms of speech afterwards, it was definitely different and harder to talk properly for about a week. Eating was severely impaired and the piercing itself hurt like hell! But it healed well, my tongue went back to normal in about a week, and it was fine after that (until it fell out and I swallowed it, several years later).

Thanks Rock, may wait for another week then just so I don't sound really odd in my "marked" presentation!

I am not a doctor, but I remember a radio feature on piercings that had gone wrong. They had a doctor on and his advice was if it's wet and warm don't pierce it!
