I noted yesterday that some people percieve public sector workers as whinging, envious misery guts and I think it could not be further from the truth.

I love love love my job and have had the most wonderful week as I do most weeks, infact someone in my tutor group said to mne today are you always happy Miss?

Today some of my delights included:

Teaching about liberation theology to a GCSE class and have them say thanks Miss at the end as they found it so interesting. One girl said to me Miss you made me look at the world in a whole new way. ( I filled up)

One of my boys in my tutor group totally unprompted who has had a real turnaround said thanks to me today.

A card from a parent to say thanks.

Listenng and watching a student talk with passion about a book and discovering that I loved it too at his age and wanting to share it with me.

Celebrating ST Georges day, watching it go wrong and then being able to laugh at ourselves.

I am knackered but feel like I could dance on clouds, although of course I would fall off and look stupid.

Twinset- I was offered my very first nursing post yesterday, in an area of care that I LOVE.

I know I will love my new job.

I work in the public sector too - incredibly busy, no tea breaks (what are they?!) and half an hour for lunch at most (if we take them). I do like my job though - esp, as I get to go to the loo without anyone standing outside asking me a)if I'm doing a poo or a wee b)if they can have some money c)why they can't do x y or z, usually with their friend standing beside them. Bliss.

twinsetandpearls · 23/04/2009 21:46

Yes why are toddler fascinated by what we are doing in the loo.

I have no idea! My 2 year old pushes me aside whilst I'm still on the loo to have a look. There is no dignity to be had when you have children...

I too am a PSW and love it. I am a complete stranger to the lunch break and rarely leave before 6pm - I start at 8am - but am a much better mummy to my DCs by not being with them all day every day - that's a personal opinion and not a judgment on anyone elses lifestyle choice, BTW!

Mumcentreplus · 23/04/2009 22:45

[email protected] want to have convos..I haven't had a free poo in about 7yrs..

isittooearlyforgin · 23/04/2009 22:50

can't think of a job i'd rather do - love it1 it's the only job i can imagine getting a round of applause for a really pathetic picture of a dog (i'm a teacher!) also get to have unaccompanied pooh and a lunch break twice a week - what's not to love?!
